This post was sponsored by Mandarin Oriental, Miami, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Digital overload... it's a real thing. My phone battery dies like 3x per day & even though I'd love to be able to put the technology away... my activity level, whether it's on the phone, computer, camera etc determines my paycheck.

However, sometimes just turning off and tuning out is absolutely necessary for my mental health. I've learned to surrender to the insanity and just shut down here and there (for about 24-hrs... don't push me).
Needless to say, with Fashion Week approaching, I decided it was mandatory to get out of town before NYFW had a chance to consume me.

Sergio, Penny and I headed down to Miami for a little getaway at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami. (This trip occurred prior to Hurricane Irma & our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected in South Florida.)
Our little weekend away couldn't have come at a better time... or be in a more perfect location. I've really only spent time in the South Beach area, which I wouldn't categorize as relaxing by any means. I was relieved to find that the MO Miami was in a private, yet convenient, location. It's secluded on an island and surrounded by picturesque water views, meanwhile close to popular Miami spots. It doesn't hurt that the flight from NYC is only a few hours!

Total seclusion freaks me out... even if I'm not on wifi, it's nice to know it's here if I need to connect so, the location checked all my boxes!

Anyway, this little slice of heaven had everything we needed for our time away. Although it's not on the beach, we posted up on their man-made beach under a cabana for most of our stay. We had our choice of the pool or beach but Penny was having way too much fun barking at children and the birds that were looking for a little sanctuary in the pool so, we ventured to a more secluded area. She's 5 pounds of pure terror!
The MO Miami was kind enough to bake Penny some homemade treats!
However, before we hit the MO beach on day two, we spent the first day stuffing ourselves with Peruvian cuisine at their restaurant, La Mar by Gaston Acurio, and catching up on sleep.

Sergio was born in Peru so, we were delighted to find out we'd be enjoying Peruvian food during our stay... which we kept going back to for breakfast lunch and dinner for two days - we didn't want to stop eating.

I am REALLY picky... seriously SO picky when it comes to food. I'll eat just about anything but when it comes to fine dining, I don't mess around. La Mar was, by far, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. There was every type of seafood you could ever imagine and it was all so fresh and well prepared. A really diverse menu is hard to pull off, but every dish was was better than the last.

After borderline binging on day one, we started our digital detox off on the right foot. We slept half the day in our luxurious hotel room overlooking the bay... we needed it.

But, the real fun happened at the spa. The massage suite was insane. There was a shower and bath tub above the massage table with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay. I watched the sunset over the water before I had an amazing upper body massage to relieve my tense tech-neck.

All in all, it was so nice to get away and wind down away from it all. We'll definitely be back to our little slice of heaven at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami. For your stay, click HERE & use code SOCIAL for 15% off.

Now, I'm headed to the airport today for a little Fashion Week wind down a bit further away... can you guess where?
