Okay, are you guys ready for some major beauty secrets? Or should I say, are you ready to see what my skin looked like before and after it flaked off for a week? Getting REAL today with my VI Chemical Peel experience.

DISCLOSURE : peeling face & no make up shots... this isn't a pretty post...  except for the photo of Lauren at the end!

I feel like I sound like a broken record at this point, but you all know I am trying to repair sun damage and lessen the appearance of dark spots on my face. I recently chatted about the Lumecca IPL, which I have been getting for almost two years now. Catch up here & more on that coming soon.

Like I've said before, the only regret I have is not doing it sooner.

My other regret is that I didn't take photos from before I started the Lumecca 2 years ago, because the results are crazy from then to now!

It's all a process. There is no single treatment that is going to fix everything on your face. Well, the Lumecca is pretty damn close but I needed some extra help.

Lauren Abramowitz from Park Avenue Skin Solutions has been my guru through this process & has helped me in so many ways. Not only with the appearance of my skin but my overall confidence. Not to sound vein, but it's my face... the first thing people see and also, it's plastered all over the internet. The way it looks and makes me feel is important to me.

During my last visit, she suggested I get a VI Chemical Peel based on my stubborn hyper pigmentation and mild rosacea.

Like I said, it's a process. I started with a low level Lumeca to calm my skin - it was so crazy dry, inflamed, HORRIBLE - she couldn't even do what we had originally planned. So, we are taking some steps in between to get the best results.

Before we move on to another Lumecca treatment, (& some other goodies we'll chat about at a later date) let's chat about my chemical peel.

The worst part on my skin was my forehead, which you can tell in the photos, is pretty bad. You'll notice spots on my cheeks and chin are not as apparent after the treatment. Here is what my face looked like before the peel (lower & upper) and then what it looked like when I started to peel... get ready...
vi chemical peelThe VI Peel reverses sun damage, treats hyper-pigmentation including melasma, acne and acne scarring, aging skin and rosacea. It improves the tone, texture and clarity of the skin, reduces the appearance of age spots PLUS soften lines and wrinkles for more youthful skin.

It takes all of 10 minutes to actually get it done but the process of peeling can take up to two weeks. The solution is applied to a gauze and gently rubbed around the face, avoiding sensitive areas like lips and eyes. It's not painful at all and it doesn't blister or anything weird like they show in funny movies.

Here is what my face looked like when I was almost finished peeling, you can see the tiny dark spots are damaged skin about ready to fall off...

Within the next few days the skin begins to peel. It's really not that bad, it just looks like the aftermath of a really shitty sunburn for a few days. Once the skin begins to peel, soft, plump skin is revealed and the results are seriously amazing.

I did a photoshoot yesterday wearing only BB cream & CC Cream with a little concealer under my eyes, the results were that good!!

I took this photo this morning with my iphone, 12 days after my peel. Absolutely no makeup or retouching...
The spots on my cheeks are gone, my forehead is significantly lighter and my mustache look is gone.

I'm not where I want to be just yet but I've seen major improvements & I can't wait to show you guys when I get a bit further!
