Amazing news! I am bringing you guys a whole series of posts on skincare treatments that I can't wait to share. These posts have been a long time coming, my ultimate beauty secrets revealed.

In all seriousness, light treatments have improved my life in a real way, specifically, the Lumecca IPL. These treatments have given me confidence with areas of my appearance that once made me so insecure.

I've done it all, laser hair removal, IPL laser treatments, light therapy & if I had bad eyesight I would probably be all about Lasik.

I'm not ashamed to admit anything & not afraid to try anything.

I first wanted to share my most recent treatment, a regimen I started two years ago, Lumecca IPL.

I talked a little bit about it in a recent post 4 Must-Have Beauty Products Of The Moment.

Let's start from the beginning....

On a scale of 1 to 10 I was at a level 20 with insecurity about my skin.

I'll never forget the day, I was in Hawaii after a long day of sunbathing, no hat, probably no sunscreen, and after I got out of the shower I noticed a dark brown spot of my forehead. I thought it was makeup at first, but it didn't go away.

That was about 5 and a half years ago and it only got worse. It was gradual. Then I got these crazy dark spots at the top of my cheeks right below my eyes. Like the perfect shape of one of those masks you would wear to a masquerade ball. Then it was darkening on my upper lip &, worst of all, in some photos it looked like I had a full on mustache.

I was SO insecure, I had to wear a ton of face makeup to even out my skin and edit the shit out of my photos to make them look halfway decent. Sometimes, I couldn't use any of the photos. It sucked. I have a blog where my face is seen all the time and needs to look a certain way. I felt like a fraud.

Two years ago, I felt that I had enough. I decided to do something about it and I didn't care what the cost was. I started researching but I didn't know anything about IPL's and everyone I saw was giving me different information. I didn't know who to trust, so I didn't pull the trigger.

Then, I read about this new treatment called Lumecca from an article I read online at InStyleLauren Abramowitz from Park Avenue Skin Solutions was quoted as the expert and it all kind of went from there.

(I found the article from 2014 here & the second the follow up article I read in 2015 here) - I can't believe I found them. Note to self : things don't disappear from the internet... don't say or do anything dumb!

After eventually meeting her, I immediately knew it was for me. BTW this was even before I lived in New York!

Lumecca uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to selectively target skin conditions to treat a variety of issues, ranging from facial pigmentation, superficial vessels, skin texture and/or photo-damage. It reduces age spots, broken capillaries, scarring, and an overall improvement in skin complexion plus it tightens everything. My pores are microscopic after a treatment.

Get this - ZERO downtime & major results. The worst thing that happened afterwards was a little dry skin. Nothing a good cream can't take care of. The skin irregularities just flake off like tiny little crumbs. Some people say they look like coffee grinds. That's it.

I have done 4 sessions over the last few years and the improvements are mind blowing. My biggest regret is not having any photos of my skin prior to my first treatment.

I honestly never thought I would share this.

My skin isn't where I want it to be just yet, I suffer from rosacea and hyper-pigmentation so my skin needs constant care but the results get better each time. I have come to far from where I started.

I look and feel like a better version of myself.

During my last visit to Park Ave Skin, Lauren noticed my face was super red, dry and irritated. So instead of doing the intended chemical peel, she wanted to use the Lumecca to calm and heal my skin. Who would have thought an IPL would be healing, right?

I took a horrifying photo before my last treatment that I'll share when I have had two more treatments under my belt so you guys can see the difference. Until then, I am going to be sharing details about my journey & ways to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful.
