Happy Monday and welcome to the new month!

Last Monday, I decided to be spontaneous and book a flight to NYC for Wednesday morning to visit a special friend of mine. While I was traveling across the country, I had a lot of time to think and I realized how much my life was lacking spontaneity. I have always been a 'fly by the seat of your pants' type of gal but I've been so focused on being a 'grown up' I forgot what it was like to have a little adventure. I'm not referring to the type of adventure that is totally irresponsible  or would effect you negatively. I'm talking about the things you want to do but you never do because you're too busy focusing on the mediocrity of everyday life or worrying about what other people are going to think or say. To me, changing it up a little makes daily routine desirable and fulfilling. With that being said,  adding excitement to my life has definitely made the to do list for 2015. Anyway, I am so happy I went. I had more fun than I've had in a long time. I mean, duh... it's New York - the sights, the food, the fashion, the romance (to be continued...)

I had a chance to catch up with an old friend from high school while I was in town. She lives in Soho, right down the street from the famous Ladurée restaurant. We hid away from the 30 degree winter weather and enjoyed a little lunch, champagne and their famous french macarons! The smoked scallop salad was almost as spectacular as the blue velvet dining chairs and tufted upholstery. Total decor inspiration moment.

It was so cold walking around the city I ended up having an uber driver take me around to the shops. I didn't do any major shopping, although I died over the beautiful architecture of the boutiques.  Okay, I did a little shopping and bought some major boots but I'll share those at a later date. *cough* *cough* Rachel Zoe

My trip was so spur of the moment I hardly had enough time to prepare outfits. As a California girl, there is no amount of clothing that can keep me warm. There were a few times I couldn't talk because my face was seriously frozen. I'm such a baby! I made due with my 15 layers and constant consumption of warm beverages.

Incredible views from the gorgeous terrace and my digs for the trip.
